Make a living springtime basket!

These natural grass baskets can be filled with decorated eggs, mini flowering plants, chocolate bunnies, small figurines, or even cat treats! However you choose to fill the basket, you’ll need to begin the process about 10-14 days beforehand.

Choose a 4-6-inch deep basket.

Line it with a clean shower curtain cut to size, or other watertight liner.

Scatter rocks and/or broken Styrofoam in the bottom to allow for drainage.

Fill the basket with potting soil to within 1” from the top. Evenly sprinkle a generous amount of rye or wheat seeds mixed with a little additional loose soil on the top of the soil.

Saturate the prepared basket with water. The grass seed needs plenty of water to sprout.

Place the basket in direct sunshine and amply water it every day or every two days.

You should see small shoots in as few as two days. Your basket will be filled with lush, emerald green grass in approximately two weeks.
